1 - Purpose and scope
The purpose of these general terms and conditions of use and sale is to define the terms and conditions (hereainfter "T&Cs") under which the publisher of the Athera website (hereinafter "Athera") provides any person (hereinafter "the User “ or ”Subscriber") its free and paid online information services, as well as the rights and obligations of the parties in this context.
The Terms govern in particular:
– access to and use of the Athera website and editorial content,
– the terms and conditions for creating and using an Account,
– the terms and conditions for subscribing to, renewing, and canceling monthly or annual premium subscriptions,
– the rules relating to promotional offers and any preferential rates,
– the respective responsibilities of the parties, as well as the protection of personal data.
These Terms and Conditions are binding on all Users and Subscribers, without condition or reservation. Any creation of an Account, subscription, or use of the services constitutes full and complete acceptance of these terms. Any tolerance of a breach of contract does not constitute a waiver. If one clause is invalid, the others remain in effect.
2 - Service operator
Athera (EI, 70 boulevard de Charonne, 75020 Paris) is a publisher of online information content, notably publishing the newsletter “Le Brief Géopolitique” and premium content accessible by subscription.
3 - Account creation and access to services
3.1 - Account creation
Access to certain services requires the creation of a user account (“Account”), which requires:
– a valid email address,
– and, where applicable, a password.
The User undertakes to provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information. Usernames and passwords are personal and confidential. Any action taken using these identifiers is deemed to have been performed by the User.
3.2 - Access to newsletters and premium content
Access to premium newsletters is mainly provided:
– by sending newsletters to the Account's email address,
– and/or via a reserved area. The User is responsible for configuring their email and equipment to enable reception.
4 - Subscription offers and services included
4.1 - Types of subscriptions
Athera offers in particular:
– a monthly subscription,
– an annual subscription.
The services included are described in the “Join Athera +” offer.
4.2 - Services included and changes
Athera may modify, enhance, or reduce the services included without compensation as long as the nature of the subscription (access to premium content) remains unchanged.
5 - Prices, rate changes, and payment methods
5.1 - Prices and changes
Prices are indicated in american dollars, including tax. Athera may modify its rates, applicable to current subscriptions only upon the next renewal. In case of refusal, the Subscriber may terminate before the expiration date.
5.2 - Payment methods
The subscription is payable upon subscription or renewal. Accepted methods:
– credit card,
– other methods indicated by the payment interface.
In the event of unsuccessful payment, access may be suspended or terminated without refund.
6 - Term, tacit renewal, and termination
6.1 - Term and renewal
The subscription is concluded for an initial term (monthly or annual) and is tacitly renewed for the same term.
6.2 - Termination by the Subscriber
The Subscriber may terminate at any time. To avoid renewal, termination must take place no later than the day before the expiry date. Termination takes effect on the next expiry date.
6.3 - No refund
The sums received for the current period remain due. No early refunds will be made.
6.4 - Termination by Athera
In the event of repeated non-payment or default, Athera may suspend or terminate the subscription after warning, without compensation.
7 - Promotional offers and specific rates
7.1 - Promotional offers
Athera may offer promotional offers that are limited in time or subject to conditions. An offer obtained improperly may result in its removal, suspension of access, or conversion to a standard subscription, without compensation.
8 - Rules of use, responsibilities, and limitations related to the Internet
8.1 - Account Use
Login details are strictly personal. Sharing, resale, or collective use is prohibited. Any violation may result in suspension or termination without refund.
8.2 - Internet limitations
Athera does not guarantee uninterrupted access. The User uses the service at their own risk (connection, equipment, security). Athera is not liable for indirect damages.
9 - Force majeure
Athera cannot be held liable in the event of force majeure (unforeseeable, unavoidable, external event). The performance of the contract is suspended for the duration of the event.
10 - Personal data and privacy
Data collected for the management of the Account, subscriptions, and customer relations. GDPR rights: access, rectification, deletion, limitation, opposition, portability.

11 - Right of withdrawal
The Subscriber acknowledges that immediate access to digital content constitutes performance of the service, resulting in the termination of the right of withdrawal when required by law, and that the Subscriber has expressly consented to such immediate performance.
12 - Intellectual property
All Athera content is protected by law. Strictly for personal use. Any unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or reuse is prohibited and may constitute an infringement.
13 - Modifications to the T&Cs
Athera may modify the T&Cs at any time. The new terms shall apply as soon as they are posted online or upon the next renewal of the subscription. In the event of disagreement, the Subscriber may terminate the subscription before the new terms come into effect.
14 - Acceptance of the T&Cs
Any use of the service or subscription constitutes full and complete acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
15 - Applicable law and dispute resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by French law. In the absence of an amicable agreement, disputes will be brought before the competent courts within the jurisdiction of Athera's registered office.
